Cinnamon Roll Waffles

I have to share the most creative breakfast concoction I put to the test this morning, Cinnamon Roll Waffles! So my family recently received a waffle maker from my grandma, however, we have never got around to make waffle mix. I was browsing Pinterest (no surprise there) and found a creative way to cook Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls. All that was needed was a package of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls and a waffle maker.

To produce this creative breakfast...

-Un-package the cinnamon rolls and place about two at a time on the waffle maker (depending on the size of the waffle maker you may be able to cook three at a time, however ours is a little smaller so two fit perfectly)
-Close the waffle maker and let the heat of the waffle maker works it magic. Depending on how the cinnamon rolls were cooking, I occasionally lifted the top and flipped the rolls. Once I flipped them I let them sit under the heat for maybe 10 additional seconds. More importantly, I just used my judgement when I thought they were cooked throughly... make sure they are at least a nice golden brown. I found with the cinnamon coating on the roll made them get occasionally a little darker, but they still tasted delicious.
-Once all the rolls are cooked, it's time to dig in! The best part is using the frosting as syrup which tops off this creative morning breakfast

.

I hope my explanation makes sense, but if you would like a visual demonstration I copied and pasted the Pinterest link!

Breakfast Muffins

It has been too long since I've posted something. If only my professor would stop assigning reading and writing assignments (hey which I would be okay with) then I wouldn't have let all you bloggers or readers waiting so long. With that being said I thought I would share with you a recipe I found on Pinterest and made yesterday. I was scrolling through all my pins and came across these banana oat muffins. I gave it a try, and they turned out delicious. Better yet, they are healthy... or at least as healthy as a muffin can get.

The recipe called for:
         - 2 bananas
         - 2.5 cups of Traditional Oats
         - 7 oz. of plain vanilla non-fat Greek yogurt
         - 2 eggs
         - 1/2 cup of brown sugar
         - 1.5 tsp baking powder
         - 1/2 tsp baking soda
         - 1 tsp vanilla extract
         - (optional: I added semi-sweet chocolate chips to satisfy the sweet tooth)

Also, the recipe called for using a food processor. Our food processor, however, was a little too small for all the contents so I manually mixed all the ingredients. Hopefully I gained some muscle from doing that :)

Here is the final product! If you are ever in the baking mood or craving a muffing give this recipe a try.

What To Do In This Cold!

I feel I keep talking about the freezing weather inMinnesota, but it continues to stay here so I feel its only appropriate to post about it, especially when all schools were canceled today due to the freezing temperatures. I thought, since there is no school today why not give ideas of what to do on a freezing day. Here we go...

1. Sleep In

2. Catch up on the latest Netflix season

3. ... or watch some classic Disney movies

4. Have hot cocoa

5. Make Bread (that's my challenge for today)

6. Finish reading that book that you haven't had time to finish

7. Wear your pjs all day

8. Paint your nails

9. Start a craft to do

10. Find a recipe you've been wanting to make

I hope this gives you some ideas. Most of all don't spend all day doing homework and enjoy the day off :)

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty & Saving Mr. Banks

Now I'm a person who could go for a movie and popcorn any night especially in the winter time. The New Year always calls for new movies, which I can't complain about. I would definitely recommend, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Saving Mr. Banks. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty inspires you to take on a new adventure and to explore life. Saving Mr. Banks goes behind the scenes in how Mary Poppins came to be. It is an enlightening movie that reiterates how the past can shape us, but we don't have to let it hold us back from living in the present.

Next time you are wondering what to do in your spare time, treat yourself to a movie and popcorn :)

Fishtail Braided Bangs

Since it feels like Antarctica up here in Minnesota I decided to see what hairstyle I could learn today. I resorted to my favorite website for inspiration, Pinterest, and came across a simple way to pull back my bangs. I decided to learn how to fishtail braid my bangs. I admit I haven't been able to master the actual fishtail braid, but doing it to your bangs I would was fairly easy.

First, I sectioned off my hair, just so I was working with my bangs (even though I don't even know if they qualify as bangs because they are pretty longs these days).

Next, at the top of the sectioned piece of hair I split it into two. From one section select a small section of hair from the outside. Carry that over so it becomes part of the second section of hair. Repeat that but do it to the other section of hair.

Now, just like a french braid grab a small piece of hair and bring it over the closest section and add it to the second section. Repeat that from the other side. Continue to do so until you run out of hair or you want to pin it back.

You may find this youtube video helpful to. (I know I did!)

It's that time of year to make changes and begin with a fresh start. Even though I am a day late since it is January 2nd, I wanted to post a list of 15 things I would like to do in 2014...

1. Always enjoy the little things
-A little less worrying and stressing

2. Eliminate negative thoughts
-Life becomes that much better when everything is seen from a positive view

3. Live outside my comfort zone

4. Lay outside one night and star gaze

5. Complete a triathlon

6. Volunteer

7. Read more

8. Go on an adventure and take pictures

9. Finish a half-marathon

10. Make an inspiration collage

11. Grow in my faith

12. Play in the rain

13. Make a cake

14. Watch the sunrise

15. Do something spontaneous

Lastly, I came across this quote that fits perfectly for the beginning of a new year. "Today is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one."

I hope this gives you some inspiration so you can make 2014 a good one!

Puppy Chow Recipe

First of all, Happy New Year! However, since it was New Year's Eve yesterday, it only called for making snacks to graze on throughout the evening. The snack of choice was the well known puppy chow. If you love chocolate and peanut butter, then this is something you will have to make.

The Recipe is simple, Let's begin...

Puppy Chow calls for:
1. Peanut Butter
2. Rice Chex Cereal
3. Chocolate Chips (Personally, I use Nestle Toll House Milk Chocolate morsels. However, another common substitute is Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet morsels)
4. Powdered Sugar

- Measure 9 cups of Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl
- Melt a cup of chocolate chips mixed with a 1/2 a cup of peanut butter
- Once melted, stir ingredients together until fully mixed. Then pour over the cereal.

- Make sure all of the cereal squares are covered in the melted chocolate chip and peanut butter.
- Put the chocolate/peanut butter squares in a large Ziploc bag (I use a garbage bag because it makes it easier to mix the cereal squares in the powdered sugar)

- Add about a cup and a 1/2 of powdered sugar to the bag. Make sure all of the cereal squares get covered in the sugar. If not, continue to add more powdered sugar.

- Time to indulge! Your puppy chow is complete :)
